The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 Whither then will you go? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
