The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
