The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night! 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 - The piercing Star! 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Verily, (Allah) is Able to bring him back (to life)! 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain, 11 and the replenishing earth, 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 it is not a jest. 14 They are devising guile, 15 and so am I: 16 So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile. 17
