The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 by the day when it appears radiant, 2 and by the creation of the male and the female. 3 That your endeavour is for different ends. 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah), 8 And rejects the best, 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 His wealth will not avail him when he falls into ruin. 11 Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way, 12 And truly, unto Us (belong) the last (Hereafter) and the first (this world). 13 Wherefore I have warned you of Fire flaming, 14 where none shall burn except the most wicked, 15 who denied [the truth], and turned away. 16 But those most devoted to Allah shall be removed far from it,- 17 Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 They do not expect any reward 19 But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High; 20 And presently he shall become well pleased. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
