Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
We sent Noah to his nation, saying: 'Give warning to your nation before a painful punishment overtakes them' 1 He said: O my people! Surely I am a plain warner to you: 2 that you serve Allah and fear Him, and follow me; 3 "So He may forgive you your sins and give you respite for a stated Term: for when the Term given by Allah is accomplished, it cannot be put forward: if ye only knew." 4 He said: “My Lord, I called my people by night and by day, 5 But all my calling doth but add to their repugnance; 6 Evert time I invite them to Your (guidance) so that You can forgive them, they put their fingers into their ears, cover their heads with their clothes, persist in their disbelief and display extreme arrogance. 7 Then I called them openly, 8 Then I conveyed the message to them, again, both in public and in private, 9 I said to them: “Ask forgiveness from your Lord; surely He is Most Forgiving. 10 He will send you abundant 11 "'Give you increase in wealth and sons; and bestow on you gardens and bestow on you rivers (of flowing water). 12 What is amiss with you that you do not look forward to the majesty of Allah 13 While He has created you in (different) stages [i.e. first Nutfah, then 'Alaqah and then Mudghah, see (VV. 23:13, 14) the Quran]. 14 See ye not how Allah hath created seven heavens in harmony, 15 And hath made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp? 16 God produced you from the earth like a vegetable growth; 17 how He will then return you to it and bring you forth again, 18 And Allah has made for you the earth an expanse 19 that thereof you may thread ways, ravines." 20
