And said the chiefs of those who disbelieved among his people and belied the meeting of the Hereafter and whom We had luxuriated in the life of the world: this is no other than a human being like unto you; he eateth of that whereof ye eat, and he drinketh of that which ye drink. 33 and, indeed, if you pay heed to a mortal like yourselves, you will surely be the losers! 34 Does he promise you that after you die and become dust and bones you will be brought back to life again? 35 ۞ Far-fetched, far-fetched indeed is what you are promised! 36 There is only the life of this world: We die and we live: there is no rising from the dead for us. 37 This man has forged a mere lie in the name of Allah and we shall never believe what he says." 38 He said, "My Lord, support me because they have denied me." 39 Answered (the Lord): "They shall wake up repenting soon." 40 And the Cry seized them in justice and We made them withered. So begone with the harmdoing nation. 41 Thereafter, after them, We produced other generations; 42 No nation can live beyond its allotted time, or lag behind. 43 Then We sent Our Messengers in succession, every time there came to a nation their Messenger, they denied him, so We made them follow one another (to destruction), and We made them as Ahadith (the true stories for mankind to learn a lesson from them). So away with a people who believe not. 44 Then We sent Musa (Moses) and his brother Harun (Aaron), with Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and manifest authority, 45 To Pharaoh and his nobles who behaved with arrogance, for they were a conceited lot, 46 And they said: What! shall we believe in two mortals like ourselves while their people serve us? 47 So they denied them and were of those destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, that haply they would be guided; 49 And We made the son of Maryam (Mary) and his mother as a sign, And We gave them refuge on high ground, a place of rest, security and flowing streams. 50
