۞ Gather together those who were unjust and their associates, and what they used to worship 22 Instead of Allah, and lead them to the path to hell; 23 And halt them, to be questioned: 24 "What is the matter with you? Why do you not help one another (as you used to do in the world)?" 25 But they, that Day, are in surrender. 26 and advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 27 They shall say: Surely you used to come to us from the right side. 28 They will say, "No! It was you who would not believe -- 29 we had no authority over you; no, you were an insolent people. 30 But now our Lord's word has come true against us: truly, we are bound to taste [the punishment]. 31 we perverted you, indeed, we were perverts' 32 And verily, on that Day they all will share in their common suffering. 33 Surely thus do We deal with the guilty. 34 Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). 35 And said: "Should we abandon our gods for the sake of an insane poet?" 36 In fact he has brought the Truth, and testified for the Noble Messengers! 37 Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom - 38 but you shall not be recompensed except for what you were doing. 39 But for the sincere worshipers of Allah, 40 For them is a Sustenance determined, 41 and fruits while they are honored. 42 In the Gardens of delight, 43 (Sitting) on couches, face to face, 44 With cups from a flowing stream being passed around, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. 47 And with them shall be damsels of refraining looks, large-eyed 48 [as free of faults] as if they were hidden [ostrich] eggs. 49 Then some of them will turn to others, and will ask each other. 50 Said one of the speakers: "I had a friend 51 Who used to say: 'Are you one of those who can testify to the truth? 52 What! when we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then be certainly brought to judgment? 53 Do you want to see him?' " 54 He will look down and see him in hell. 55 He said, “By Allah, you had nearly ruined me!” 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought forth (to Hell)." 57 Then he will say [to his blessed companions], "Are we not going to die, 58 except our first death, and shall we not be punished' 59 Truly, this is the supreme success! 60 For the like of this let the workers [on earth] work. 61 Is this better as a welcome, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Lo! We have appointed it a torment for wrong-doers. 63 Verily it is a tree that springeth forth in the bottom of Flaming Fire. 64 Its spathes are like the heads of satans. 65 So indeed they will eat from it, and fill their bellies with it. 66 then on top of it they have a brew of boiling water, 67 Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire. 68 They indeed found their fathers astray, 69 So they (too) made haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples, 71 And indeed We had sent Heralds of warnings among them. 72 See how terrible was the end of those who were warned. 73 Save the bondmen of Allah sincere. 74
