Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 By the Clear Book, 2 We have indeed sent it as a Qur’an in the Arabic language, so that you may understand. 3 It (the Quran) exists in the original Book with Us which is certainly Most Exalted, full of wisdom and (beyond linguistic structures). 4 Shall We then take away from you the admonition because ye are a people extravagant? 5 How many a Prophet did We send to the ancients, 6 No Prophet came to them whom they did not mock. 7 We therefore destroyed the people who were more forceful than these, and the example of the earlier ones has already gone by. 8 If you ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?", they will surely answer, "The Almighty, the All Knowing One has created them." 9 He who appointed the earth to be a cradle for you, and appointed ways for you therein, that haply you may be guided; 10 Who sent down water in due measure from the sky, then quickened a region that was dead -- So shall We bring you forth -- 11 it is He who created all living things in pairs and gave you ships to sail in and beasts to ride upon 12 so that you may sit firmly on their backs. Then once you have mounted them, remember your Lord's favour and say, "Glory be to Him who has subjected these creatures to us; we would never on our own have subdued them. 13 And verily unto our Lord we are to return. 14 Yet they assign to Him some of His own (created) worshipers! Clearly, the human is unthankful. 15
