The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
