Verily We created man of potter's clay of black mud altered, 26 And created the jinn before him, from smokeless fire. 27 And when thy Lord said to the angels, 'See, I am creating a mortal of a clay of mud moulded. 28 “Therefore when I have properly fashioned him and breathed into him a chosen noble soul from Myself, fall down before him in prostration.” 29 Thereupon the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together, 30 Not so Iblis: he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves. 31 He said: 'iblis, what is the matter with you, that you do you not prostrate yourself' 32 Iblis replied, "I did not want to prostrate before a human being whom You have created out of mud-moulded clay". 33 God said, "Then get out of here; for you are accursed, 34 And surely on you is curse until the day of judgment. 35 He said: 'My Lord, reprieve me till the Day they are raised' 36 Said Allah, “You are of those given respite.” 37 till the Day the time whereof is known [to Me alone]." 38 He said, “My Lord! I swear by the fact that You sent me astray, I shall distract them in the earth, and I shall lead all of them astray.” 39 except those of Your servants whom You have singled out for Yourself." 40 (Allah) said: "This (way of My sincere servants) is indeed a way that leads straight to Me. 41 No power shall you have over (all) My creatures except those who fall into error and follow you, 42 being perverse; Gehenna shall be their promised land all together. 43 Unto it are seven portals; unto each portal is a portion of them assigned. 44
