The people of al-Hijr also rejected Our messengers: 80 And though We had given them Our signs they turned away from them. 81 And they hewed houses in the mountains in security. 82 So the rumbling overtook them in the morning; 83 Out of what they had gained, nothing proved to be of any benefit to them. 84 We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, save in truth. Surely the Hour is coming; so pardon thou, with a gracious pardoning. 85 Indeed, your Lord - He is the Knowing Creator. 86 We have indeed bestowed on you the seven oft-repeated verses and the Great Qur'an. 87 So covet not things We have bestowed on a portion of them to enjoy, and do not grieve for them, and protect those who believe; 88 and say: "Behold, I am indeed the plain warner [promised by God]! 89 Like as We sent down on the dividers 90 Who have made the Qur'an into portions. 91 Now by thy Lord, We shall surely question them all together 92 concerning that they were doing. 93 So proclaim that which thou art commanded, and withdraw from the idolaters. 94 Lo! We defend thee from the scoffers, 95 Those who set up another god with Allah; so they shall soon know. 96 We are well aware that you are disheartened by what they say. 97 But you should glorify your Lord with praises, and be among those who bow in submission; 98 And worship your Lord until there comes to you the certainty (death). 99
