The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Blissful are the believers 1 those who humble themselves in their prayer, 2 And those who from everything vain turn away. 3 And who are givers of poor-rate, 4 And who guard their private parts, 5 except with their spouses and slave-girls. The practice of carnal relations is lawful with them. 6 As for those who seek beyond that, they are transgressors" 7 And those who fulfil their trusts and keep their promises; 8 And who guard their prayers. 9 These! they are the inheritors. 10 that shall inherit Paradise; and in it they shall abide for ever. 11 We created man out of the extract of clay, 12 and then We cause him to remain as a drop of sperm in [the wombs] firm keeping, 13 The living germ, then, was turned into a shapeless lump of flesh from which bones were formed. The bones, then, were covered with flesh. At this stage, We caused it to become another creature. All blessings belong to God, the best Creator. 14 And then, behold! after all this, you are destined to die; 15 and then on the Day of Resurrection you shall certainly be raised up. 16 And indeed, We have created above you seven [celestial] orbits: and never are We unmindful of [any aspect of Our] creation. 17 And We send down water from the skies in accordance with a measure [set by Us,] and then We cause it to lodge in the earth: but, behold, We are most certainly able to withdraw this [blessing]! 18 And by means of this [water] We bring forth for you gardens of date-palms and vines, wherein you have fruit abundant and whereof you eat, 19 also a tree growing on Mount Sinai which produces oil and a condiment for those who eat it. 20 And indeed there is also a lesson for you in cattle. We provide you with drink out of what they have in their bellies; and you have many other benefits in them: you eat of them, 21 and by them - as by the ships [over the sea] - you are borne [overland]. 22
