And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 (Abraham) said, "Do you know that what you worship 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations. 84 Make me inherit the bountiful Paradise. 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 whereas the blazing fire will be laid open before those who had been lost in grievous error; 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
