And Noah had certainly called Us, and [We are] the best of responders. 75 And We rescued him and his family from the great distress (i.e. drowning), 76 And, his progeny, them We made the survivors (i.e. Shem, Ham and Japheth). 77 And We let it remain upon him in the latter: 78 Peace be unto Noah among the peoples! 79 Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good. 80 he was one of Our believing worshipers. 81 Afterwards We drowned the others. 82 ۞ And most surely Ibrahim followed his way. 83 When he came to his Lord with a heart compliant, 84 Recall what time he said unto his father and his people: What is it that ye worship? 85 Is it false deities that you want to serve rather than Allah? 86 “So what do you assume regarding the Lord Of The Creation?” (That He will not punish you?) 87 Then he glanced a glance on the stars. 88 and said, "Verily, I am sick [at heart]!" 89 And they turned their backs on him and went away. (The pagans thought he would transmit the disease). 90 He turned to their gods and said, "Do you not eat? 91 What ails you, that you speak not?' 92 Then he started striking them down with his right hand. 93 So they (people) advanced towards him, hastening. 94 He said, 'Do you serve what you hew, 95 the while it is God who has created you and all your handiwork?" 96 They said: build for him a building and cast him into the flaming fire. 97 So they tried to execute their evil scheme upon him – We therefore degraded them. (Allah saved him, by commanding the fire to turn cool). 98 And he said: Surely I fly to my lord; He will guide me. 99 Lord, grant me a righteous son." 100 We gave him the good news that he would have a patient, forbearing son. 101 And when he reached the age when he could work with him, he said, "O my son, I have seen in a dream that I am sacrificing you. So tell me what you think of it!" He replied, "O my father, do as you are commanded; and God willing, you will find me steadfast." 102 And when they had both submitted, and his son had laid down prostrate upon his forehead, 103 We called to him, saying: 'O Abraham, 104 thou hast already fulfilled [the purpose of] that dream-vision!" Thus, verily, do We reward the doers of good: 105 Most surely this is a manifest trial. 106 And We rescued him in exchange of a great sacrifice. (The sacrifice of Ibrahim and Ismail – peace be upon them – is commemorated every year on 10, 11 and 12 Zil Haj). 107 and left for him among the later folk 108 Peace be on Ibrahim. 109 Thus do We reward the good. 110 truly, he was one of Our faithful servants. 111 And We gave him the good news of Ishaq, a prophet among the good ones. 112 And We blessed him and Isaac. And of their seed are some who do good, and some who plainly wrong themselves. 113
