The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 the records of deeds are made public, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
