The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
