The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the heaven, and the night-visitor, 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 (It is) the piercing star. 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 So let man observe from what he was created. 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 That issued from between the loins and ribs. 7 Verily, (Allah) is Able to bring him back (to life)! 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain, 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 Lo! this (Qur'an) is a conclusive word, 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 They are hatching up a plot, 15 And I secretly plan. 16 So leave the unbelievers to themselves; respite them awhile. 17
