So when the apostles came to Lut's followers, 61 he said, "You seem to be strangers". 62 "We have come to you with news," they said, "of what your people doubt; 63 We truly tell you that we have brought to you the Truth. 64 Depart with your family in a part of the night and walk behind them and let none of you turn round. Go to a place where you are commanded' 65 And We conveyed to him [the decree] of that matter: that those [sinners] would be eliminated by early morning. 66 And there came the people of the city rejoicing 67 He said, 'These are my guests; put me not to shame, 68 And fear Allah, and humiliate me not. 69 They replied: 'Have we not forbidden you (the people of) the worlds' 70 He said, 'These are my daughters, if you would be doing.' 71 By thy life, in their intoxication they were wandering bewildered. 72 But the (mighty) Blast overtook them before morning, 73 and We turned those [sinful towns] upside down, and rained down upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement pre-ordained. 74 There are certainly signs in that for those who can learn a lesson -- 75 And surely it is on a road that still abides. 76 surely in that is a sign for believers. 77 And the dwellers of the thicket also were most surely unjust. 78 and so We inflicted Our retribution on them. And behold, both these [sinful communities] lived by a highway, [to this day] plain to see 79
