Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 And goblets set at hand 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
