Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the Dawn 1 and ten nights (of pilgrimage or the last ten days of Ramadan), 2 by the odd and even (8th and 9th Dhil-hajj) 3 and by the passing night, 4 Is there not an evidence in this for those who have sense? 5 Did you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) not see (thought) how your Lord dealt with 'Ad (people)? 6 The people of many-columned lram. 7 the like of which was never created in the countries? 8 (Also consider how He dealt with) the Thamud, who carved their houses out of the rocks in the valley. 9 And Pharaoh, of the pegs (impaling his victims)? 10 led rebellious lives, 11 And heaped therein mischief (on mischief). 12 So your Lord poured on them different kinds of severe torment. 13 Your Lord is certainly in wait. 14 As for the human being, when his Lord tests him, honors him, and grants him bounty, he says, "God has honored me". 15 But when He tries him by restraining his means, he says: "My Lord despises me." 16 No indeed, but you show no kindness to the orphan, 17 and do not urge one another to feed the poor, 18 And ye devour heritages with devouring greed. 19 and you ardently love wealth. 20 Nay! When the earth is ground to powder, 21 and thy Lord comes, and the angels rank on rank, 22 and when Hell is brought near that Day. On that Day will man understand, but of what avail will that understanding be? 23 He will say: "Alas! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my life!" 24 Wherefore on that Day none shall torment with His torment. 25 And His bonds will be such as none (other) can bind. 26 O thou peaceful soul! 27 return to your Lord well pleased with him and He will be pleased with you. 28 So enter among My servants, 29 "And enter you My Paradise!" 30
