A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ AlifLaamMeemSaad. 1 A book has been revealed to you, (Muhammad). You should not hesitate to convey its warning and its good advice to the believers. 2 "Follow what has been sent down unto you by your Sustainer, and follow no masters other than Him. How seldom do you keep this in mind! 3 How many cities have We destroyed! Our wrath struck their people at night or during their midday siesta. 4 No plea had they, when Our terror came unto them, save that they said: Lo! We were wrong-doers. 5 We will question those to whom Our Message was sent, as We shall question the Messengers. 6 We will tell them with absolute certainty (what they had done) for We had never been absent from them (during their lifetime). 7 The weighing on that day is the true (weighing). As for those whose scale is heavy, they are the successful. 8 Those whose scale will be light, will be their souls in perdition, for that they wrongfully treated Our signs. 9 And We have given you (mankind) power in the earth, and appointed for you therein livelihoods. Little give ye thanks! 10
