The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. (Of the disbeliever) 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 And who glide with ease. 3 and those that outstrip suddenly 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They will say: 'Then we are returned lost' 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 Have you heard the story of Moses? 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 So Moosa showed him a magnificent sign. 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned away in a hurry, 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 Saying: "I am your lord, most high", 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 Verily, in this is an instructive admonition for whosoever fears Allah. 26
