Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 And cushions ranged 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
