And a sign for them is the dead earth; We gave it life and We produced from it grain, so they eat from it. 33 And there We made gardens of palms and vines, and in it We caused fountains to gush forth, 34 That they may enjoy the fruits of this (artistry): It was not their hands that made this: will they not then give thanks? 35 All glory belongs to the One Who has created pairs out of what grow from the earth, out of their soul and out of that which they do not know. 36 And a sign for them is the night, We withdraw therefrom the day, and behold, they are in darkness. 37 And the sun runneth on unto a resting-place for him. That is the measuring of the Mighty, the Wise. 38 And the moon! For it We have decreed mansions till it reverteth like the old branch of a palm-tree. 39 Neither does it lie in the sun's power to overtake the moon nor can the night outstrip the day. All glide along, each in its own orbit. 40 And a sign for them is that We carried their seed in the laden ship, 41 And We made similar vessels for them to ride. 42 and [that,] if such be Our will, We may cause them to drown, with none to respond to their cry for help: and [then] they cannot be saved, 43 But (by) mercy from Us and for enjoyment till a time. 44 And when it is said to them: Guard against what is before you and what is behind you, that mercy may be had on you. 45 and no message of their Sustainer's messages ever reaches them without their turning away from it. 46 and when they are told, "Give to others out of what God has provided for you," those who are bent on denying the truth say to the believers, "Why should we feed those whom God could feed if He wanted? You are clearly in error!" 47 And they say, "When is this promise, if you should be truthful?" 48 They must be waiting for but one single blast, which will overtake them while they are still disputing. 49 So they shall not be able to make a bequest, nor shall they return to their families. 50
