The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 and a few from later times. 14 On studded thrones. 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And wide eyed houris 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 The Companions of the Right 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and spreading shade 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For those of the right hand. 38
