The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 and a few from later times. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and flowing water, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 and made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 for the people of the right hand 38
