The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 , A fitting reward. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
