The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 And when the books are spread, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 by the night when it approaches 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 Whither then will you go? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
