The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Successful indeed are the believers 1 who in their prayers are humble 2 those who turn away from all that is frivolous; 3 and at almsgiving are active 4 Who guard their sex 5 Except from their wives or (the captives and slaves) that their right hands possess, for then, they are free from blame; 6 But whoever seeks to go beyond that, these are they that exceed the limits; 7 And those who are keepers of their trusts and their covenant, 8 And those who of their prayers are observant. 9 These are they who are the heirs, 10 Who will inherit paradise. There they will abide. 11 Man We did create from a quintessence (of clay); 12 Then We placed him as a sperm in a firmly established lodging; 13 then We developed that drop into a clinging form, and We developed that form into a lump of flesh, and We developed that lump into bones, and clothed the bones with flesh. Then We brought him into being as a new creation, glory be to God, the best of creators, 14 And then, behold! after all this, you are destined to die; 15 Then verily on the Day of Judgment ye shall be raised up. 16 We have created seven ways above you; of Our creation, We are never inattentive. 17 We send down water from the sky in determined measure, and store it up in the earth; and We have power to drain it away. 18 We grow orchards of dates and grapes from it for you, Which yield fruits in abundance that you eat. 19 And also a tree that springeth forth from mount Sinai, that groweth oil and is a sauce for the eaters. 20 And indeed there is also a lesson for you in cattle. We provide you with drink out of what they have in their bellies; and you have many other benefits in them: you eat of them, 21 And on them and on the ships you are borne. 22
