And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 And forgive my father. Lo! he is of those who err. 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was the evildoers who led us astray, 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
