Have you heard the story of the honorable guests of Abraham? 24 When they came to him they said, "Peace!" He answered, "Peace!" [saying to himself]. "They are strangers." 25 Then he turned quickly to his household, and brought a fatted calf, 26 And he set it before them, and said: wherefore eat ye not? 27 [And when he saw that the guests would not eat,] he became apprehensive of them; [but] they said, "Fear not" - and gave him the glad tiding of [the birth of] a son who would be endowed with deep knowledge. 28 Then his wife came forward, crying and beating her brow. She said, "I am surely a barren, old woman." 29 They said, "Even so has thy Lord spoken: and He is full of Wisdom and Knowledge." 30 ۞ Abraham asked, "Messengers, what is your task?" 31 They said, “We have been sent towards a guilty nation.” 32 "To bring on, on them, (a shower of) stones of clay (brimstone), 33 marked by your Lord for the sinful' 34 Then We brought forth such as were therein of the believers. 35 But We did not find therein save a (single) house of those who submitted (the Muslims). 36 And We left behind therein a portent for those who fear a painful doom. 37 And in Musa also was a lesson, when We sent him unto Fir'awn with authority manifest. 38 But he turned away with his forces and said: A magician or a mad man. 39 We seized him and his army and threw them into the sea. He himself was to be blamed. 40 And also in Ad, when We loosed against them the withering wind 41 that left nothing it came upon, except that it was ashes. 42 And in (the tribe of) Thamud (there is a portent) when it was told them: Take your ease awhile. 43 But they were insolent toward the command of their Lord, so the thunderbolt seized them while they were looking on. 44 Then they could not even stand (on their feet), nor could they help themselves. 45 Before all these We destroyed the people of Noah: they were a wicked people. 46
