The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Woe to those that deal in fraud,- 1 when they measure against the people, take full measure 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Imagine such men not that they shall be raised up? 4 On a Great Day, 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 No indeed, the Book of the immoral is in Sijjeen. 7 Would that you knew what Sijin is!? 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 those who give the lie to the [coming of] Judgment Day: 11 And none will deny it, except every transgressor, rebel. 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, “Stories of earlier men!” 13 No indeed! The truth is that their hearts have become rusted on account of their evil deeds. 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 then they shall roast in Hell. 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - 18 Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 Those who are drawn near (to Allah) shall witness it. 21 Verily, Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil) will be in delight (Paradise). 22 On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): 23 thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 The seal thereof will be of musk. And to this end let the aspirers aspire 26 for it is composed of all that is most exalting 27 a fountain at which the chosen ones shall drink. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 When passing by them, they would wink at one another 30 and when they returned to their people they returned blithely, 31 And when they saw them, they said: "Verily! These have indeed gone astray!" 32 (they said so although) they had not been appointed watchers over them. 33 So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers, 34 Regarding them from their cushioned seats. 35 "Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?" 36
