Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 In the high empyrean, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 and couches raised high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
