The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 when earth is stretched out 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
