Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In a high Garden 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And cushions lined up 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
