The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Beneficent (God) 1 has imparted this Qur'an [unto man]. 2 He created man. 3 He taught distinctness. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning. 5 And the herbs (or stars) and the trees both prostrate. 6 He raised the heavens and set up everything in balance, 7 In order that you may not transgress (due) balance. 8 And keep up the balance with equity and do not make the measure deficient. 9 And the earth, He has set it for living creatures; 10 Therein is fruit and palms having sheathed clusters, 11 And grain chaffed and other food. 12 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 13 He created man of clay like the potter's, 14 And He created the jinn of a flame of fire. 15 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie 16 (He is) the Lord of the two easts (places of sunrise during early summer and early winter) and the Lord of the two wests (places of sunset during early summer and early winter). 17 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 18 He has given freedom to the two great bodies of water, so that they might meet: 19 Between them is a barrier [so] neither of them transgresses. 20 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you then deny? 21 There come forth from the twain the pearl and the coral. 22 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 23 And His are the ships going and coming in the seas, like mountains. 24 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 25
