The tribe of Thamud also rejected the messengers. 141 Behold, their brother Salih said to them: "Will you not fear (Allah)? 142 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 143 Have fear of God and obey me. 144 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 145 Will you be left in what is here, secure [from death], 146 amidst the gardens, springs, 147 farms, and palm-trees in thick groves, 148 And dwellings hewed out of mountains ingeniously? 149 So fear Allah and obey me. 150 and do not follow the biddings of those that go to excesses 151 "Who make mischief in the land, and mend not (their ways)." 152 They replied, "Surely you are bewitched. 153 You are naught but a mortal like ourselves; so bring a sign if you are one of the truthful. 154 Salih said: "This is a she-camel. There is a day set for her to drink and there is a day set for you to drink. 155 so do her no harm, or the punishment of an awful day will befall you." 156 But they killed her, and then they became regretful. 157 for the suffering [predicted by Salih,] befell them [then and there]. In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 158 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 159
