Thamud (people also) belied the warnings. 23 So they said: What! a single mortal from among us! Shall we follow him? Most surely we shall in that case be in sure error and distress: 24 Has the Reminder been cast upon him alone among us? Nay, rather he is an impudent liar.' 25 'They shall surely know tomorrow who is the impudent liar. 26 Verily, We are sending the she-camel as a test for them. So watch them [O Salih (Saleh)], and be patient! 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them; every share of the water shall be regulated. 28 But they called to their companion, and he took a sword in hand, and hamstrung (her). 29 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 30 We sent upon them a single blast of sound and they were left like hay to be used by the cattle. 31 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition: is there then any one who would be admonished. 32 The people of Lot rejected Our warning. 33 We let loose on all of them a squall of claystones, except for the house of Lot whom We saved at dawn 34 as a favour from Us. Thus do We reward those who give thanks. 35 For he had truly warned them of Our punishing might; but they stubbornly cast doubt on these warnings, 36 They demanded that he turn over his guests to them. We struck their faces, blinded them and said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 37 And early in the morning the decreed punishment came upon them. 38 "Then taste you My Torment and My Warnings." 39 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 40
