Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ OH, THE LAYING-BARE of the truth! 1 What is the Inevitable Calamity? 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 Thamood and Aad belied the Clatterer. 4 Then as to Samood, they were destroyed by an excessively severe punishment. 5 And the 'Ad were destroyed by the furious cold blast of roaring wind 6 Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. 7 Can you see any of their survivors? 8 And Pharaoh and those before him, and the communities that were destroyed, brought error, 9 And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty. 10 Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high, 11 That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. 12 When a single blow is blown on the Horn, 13 And the earth is moved, and its mountains, and they are crushed to powder at one stroke,- 14 On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. 15 And the heaven will split asunder – so on that day it will be unstable. 16 On its fringes will be angels, eight of them, bearing their Lord's throne aloft. 17 The Day whereon ye shall be mustered nothing hidden by you shall be hidden. 18 He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger. 19 Behold, I did know that [one day] I would have to face my account! 20 His shall be a pleasing life 21 In a Garden lofty. 22 Whereof the clusters are in easy reach. 23 (And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." 24 But he who is given his record in his left hand will say, "If only I had never been given my Record 25 and not known my reckoning! 26 "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! 27 Of no avail to me is all that I have [ever] possessed, 28 My authority is gone away from me. 29 Seize him and fetter him, 30 then throw them into hell to be heated up therein. 31 then in a chain of seventy cubits' length insert him! 32 for he did not believe in Almighty God, 33 "And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent! 34 “So he does not have any friend here this day.” 35 “Nor any food except the pus discharged from the people of hell.” 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
