The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Closer and closer to mankind comes their Reckoning: yet they heed not and they turn away. 1 No recent revival of the remembrance comes to them from their Lord, except that they play with it as they listen 2 Their hearts trifling; and those who are unjust counsel together in secret: He is nothing but a mortal like yourselves; what! will you then yield to enchantment while you see? 3 The Prophet said: my Lord knoweth the word in the heavens and the earth, and He is the Hearer, the Knower. 4 Aye! they say: a medley of dreams; aye! he hath fabricated it; aye! he is a poet; so let him bring us a sign even as the ancients were sent with. 5 There is not a township before them which did not believe which We have not destroyed; so will they believe? 6 Before thee, also, the messengers We sent were but men, to whom We granted inspiration: If ye realise this not, ask of those who possess the Message. 7 And We did not create them (the Messengers, with) bodies that ate not food, nor were they immortals, 8 Then We made Our promise good to them, so We delivered them and those whom We pleased, and We destroyed the extravagant. 9 We have sent a Book, (the Quran), which is an honor for you. Will you then not understand? 10
