The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
