The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 The rising dawn, 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
