The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, 1 Who, when they take the measure (of their dues) from men take it fully, 2 But when they measure out to others or weigh out for them, they are deficient. 3 Imagine such men not that they shall be raised up? 4 for a great Day, 5 when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 9 Woe, that Day, to those who deny [(Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection, and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments)]. 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples." 13 Nay, but that which they have earned is rust upon their hearts. 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 Then indeed they have to enter hell. 16 It will then be said, “This is what you used to deny.” 17 No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun. 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. 21 Most surely the righteous shall be in bliss, 22 On couches face to face. 23 Thou wilt recognize in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 which have the fragrance of musk. This is the kind of place for which one should really aspire. 26 And the admixture of it is a water of Tasnim, 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery); 30 and when they returned to their people they returned blithely, 31 On seeing the believers, they would say, "These people have gone astray". 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 so today those who believe shall [be able to] laugh at those who denied the truth 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do? 36
