Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
