In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Ta'. Sin. Mim 1 Those are the signs of the Manifest Book. 2 We will recite to thee something of the tiding of Moses and Pharaoh truthfully, for a people who believe. 3 Behold, Pharaoh exalted himself in the land and divided its people into castes. One group of them he deemed utterly low; he would slaughter their sons and spare (only) their women: for, behold, he was one of those who spread corruption [on earth]. 4 But We wanted to be gracious to those abased in the land, and to make them leaders and inheritors, 5 and to give them power in the land; and to show Pharaoh and Haman and their hosts that very thing which they feared. 6 We inspired Moses' mother saying, "Suckle him, and then, when you fear for him, cast him into the river, and have no fear and do not grieve, for We shall return him to you, and shall make him one of the Messengers." 7 And the family of Pharaoh took him up, that he might become for them an enemy and a sorrow, Lo! Pharaoh and Haman and their hosts were ever sinning. 8 The wife of Pharaoh said: "Here is a delight of the eye to me and to you. Do not kill him. Maybe he will prove useful for us, or we may adopt him as a son." They were unaware of the end of it all. 9 In the morning the heart of Moses' mother became empty. She would have revealed (who he was) had We not settled her heart so that she might be among the believers. 10 She said to his sister: 'Follow him' And she watched him from a distance, but they were unaware. 11 ۞ And We had already forbidden the breasts of the nurses for the child. (So seeing the girl) said: "Shall I direct you to the people of a household that will rear him with utter sincerity?" 12 And thus We restored him to his mother, so that her eye might be gladdened, and that she might grieve no longer, and that she might know that God's promise always comes true - even though most of them know it not! 13
