Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WE SENT NOAH to his people to warn them before the painful punishment came upon them. 1 He said, 'O my people, I am unto you a clear warner, 2 saying, "Serve God, and fear Him, and obey you me, 3 He will forgive you some of your faults and grant you a delay to an appointed term; surely the term of Allah when it comes is not postponed; did you but know! 4 He said; 'My Lord, I have called my people by night and by day, 5 but my call has only increased them in running away. 6 And indeed, every time I invited them that You may forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their garments, persisted, and were arrogant with [great] arrogance. 7 Then verily I have called unto them publicly 8 "Then verily, I proclaimed to them in public, and I have appealed to them in private, 9 "I said (to them): 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; Verily, He is Oft-Forgiving; 10 ‘He will send down abundant rain for you from the sky.’ 11 And will help you with wealth and sons, and will assign unto you Gardens and will assign unto you rivers. 12 "'What is the matter with you, that ye place not your hope for kindness and long-suffering in Allah,- 13 when He has created you in stages? 14 Do you not see how Allah has created the seven heavens, one above another, 15 "'And made the moon a light in their midst, and made the sun as a (Glorious) Lamp? 16 And Allah hath caused you to grow as a growth from the earth, 17 then He shall return you into it, and bring you forth. 18 And God has laid the earth for you as a carpet, 19 for you, so that you may walk along its wide roads". 20
