The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the Great News 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 except boiling water and pus 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
