The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 Created man from a clinging substance. 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
