And to Thamood their brother Salih; he said, 'O my people, serve God! You have no god other than He; there has now come to you a clear sign from your Lord -- this is the She-camel of God, to be a sign for you. Leave her that she may eat in God's earth, and do not touch her with evil, lest you be seized by a painful chastisement. 73 And remember when He made you successors after Ad and settled you in the land-- you make mansions on its plains and hew out houses in the mountains-- remember therefore Allah's benefits and do not act corruptly in the land, making mischief. 74 The chieftains of his people, who were scornful, said unto those whom they despised, unto such of them as believed: Know ye that Salih is one sent from his Lord? They said: Lo! In that wherewith he hath been sent we are believers. 75 The haughty ones remarked. 'Most certainly we disbelieve in that which you believe.' 76 So they hamstrung the she-camel and rebelled against the command of their Lord and said, “O Saleh! Bring upon us what you promise us, if you are a Noble Messenger.” 77 Thereupon a shocking catastrophe seized them, so that they lay prostrate in their dwellings. 78 Then he turned away from them and said: O my people I did certainly deliver to you the message of my Lord, and I gave you good advice, but you do not love those who give good advice. 79 AND [remember] Lot, when he said unto his people: "Will you commit abominations such as none in all the world has ever done before you? 80 You lust after men rather than women! You transgress all bounds!" 81 And the answer of his people was only that they said (one to another): Turn them out of your township. They are folk, forsooth, who keep pure. 82 But we saved him and his family, except his wife: she was of those who legged behind. 83 and We rained down upon them a rain. So look how was the end of the evildoers. 84
