۞ Thy Lord hath decreed that ye worship none but Him, and that ye be kind to parents. Whether one or both of them attain old age in thy life, say not to them a word of contempt, nor repel them, but address them in terms of honour. 23 And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy and say, "My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up [when I was] small." 24 Your Lord knows what is in your souls. If you would be righteous, know that He is All-forgiving to those who turn to Him in repentance. 25 And give the kinsman his right, and the needy, and the traveller; and never squander; 26 Verily, spendthrifts are brothers of the Shayatin (devils), and the Shaitan (Devil - Satan) is ever ungrateful to his Lord. 27 And if you turn away from them to seek mercy from your Lord, which you hope for, speak to them a gentle word. 28 And let not thy hand be chained to thy neck nor open it with a complete opening, lest thou sit down rebuked, denuded. 29 Surely your Lord makes plentiful the means of subsistence for whom He pleases and He straitens (them); surely He is ever Aware of, Seeing, His servants. 30
